Our Beliefs

We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.

  • One God

We believe in one God who is the Source, Creator, and Sustainer of all things. Though God is one, He has revealed Himself as Three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who are individually and together fully God.

  • God’s Word

We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the authoritative, complete, and sufficient Word of God for all matters of faith and practice.

  • Direct Access

We believe that human beings have both the capability and the right to directly approach God through Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

  • Salvation Defined

We believe that salvation is both the fact and act of God’s sustaining and creative care for all His creatures, especially humanity, in light of the reality and range of sin—the fallen condition of creation in contrast to God’s ideal. This salvation is given by divine grace alone and received through faith alone, as individuals turn from sin and turn toward God in obedience. This turning is called repentance and marks the beginning of a process of transformation known as conversion. All who receive salvation stand equal before God, and therefore, equal with one another.

  • The Church

We believe that only believers are members of God’s family in Christ, known as the Church. This universal community is the primary, though not exclusive, place of God's work in the world, having been chosen and called out for His divine purposes. While non-believers are not part of the Church, they remain God's creatures and belong to Him as part of His creation.

  • Religious Liberty

We believe in the separation of Church and State. Human beings, as bearers of the image of God, still retain the capacity of choice, allowing them to either accept or reject God. Since that capacity is God-given, the corresponding right and responsibility can neither be dictated by religious nor by civil authorities. Freedom of opportunity for choice, particularly spiritual choice, must exist.

  • Lord’s Supper

We believe the Lord’s Supper is for all whom God has called through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit. It is a reminder of the grace, love, and mercy of the Triune God, particularly seen in the once-for-all atoning sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. It is a means of grace to those who truly repent and who are in fellowship with their neighbors, serving to increase awareness of, clarify conviction about, and strengthen faith in God, His saving action, and His people.

  • Believer’s Baptism

We believe that Christian baptism is for those who have been led by the Holy Spirit to repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We further believe that baptism is best demonstrated by immersion in water into the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as this not only reflects the mode predominantly practiced in original Christianity but also symbolizes and safeguards the original meaning held by those first Christians. It reflects conversion, with the plunging beneath the waters signifying death to the old life of sin, and the rising above the waters signifying new life with Christ. An act of free will prompted by the grace of God, it is nevertheless the right and duty of all believers, following the example of Jesus Christ Himself.

  • Church Community

We believe that the local congregational group of believers is both an expression and embodiment of the Universal Church. Congregational membership is a privilege given to those who repent and are baptized. These members form a fellowship of God’s people who meet for worship, discipline, mutual edification, and witness. As such, each member, as a disciple of Jesus Christ, has an ongoing responsibility to bear proper testimony to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in personal worship, fellowship, witness, conduct, and lifestyle.

  • God’s Judgment

We believe that God, who is the Source of Creation, is also its End and Goal. Therefore, we believe that all of life and history will be assessed by God, and that each being is and will be accountable to Him.
